Trent Schiller, a St. Michael High School senior, has been selected to the 2018 boys’ All-Star East Basketball team by the Louisiana High School Coaches Association.
Schiller is one of 15 Louisiana high school seniors selected to the team. Senior student-athletes are chosen based on nominations by coaches who look at players’ skill and stats. Schiller is only the second student from SMHS to be chosen to the All-Star team.
SMHS boys’ basketball coach, Drew Hart, says Schiller was always a front runner for the nomination. “Trent has an unbelievable IQ for the game,” he said, “mixed with his toughness, competitiveness, and skilled shooting abilities, he has become one of the top point guards in the area.”
The last student chosen from SMHS was Jacob Evans ‘15, who now plays as shooting guard for the Cincinnati Bearcats and is a top NBA draft prospect.
Schiller said his All-Star selection was a result of hard work, and credited his coaches and his brother, Tyler, for bringing out the best in his game. “I learned a lot through each grade which has helped me play with all kinds of people and different talents,” he said.
The LHSAA Boys’ East All-Star Game will take place on Saturday, March 17, at the Bossier Parish Community College Gymnasium in Shreveport, Louisiana. For more information visit: http://lhsaa.org/sports/all-star/basketball.
