Jeffrey Brignac signed his college letter of intent to run track and cross country for Southeastern University in Hammond, LA.
Jeffrey, who is known for his work ethic, athletic ability, and leadership, credits St. Michael for his growth to compete as a collegiate athlete. “St. Michael has helped me grow mentally, physically, and spiritually,” he says. “Having coaches that train me to compete at the best of my ability has helped me become who I am today.”
Jeffrey has earned numerous awards in the time he has been a high school athlete. In cross country he is a four year varsity runner, three time All-Metro honorable mention, and ranked 11th on the St. Michael all-time record list for running 3 miles in 16 minutes and 19 seconds. For track and field, he is a three time Regional qualifier and is ranked 3rd on the St. Michael all-time record list for running the 1600 in 4 minutes and 38 seconds. Jeffrey also has many personal off-season accolades to his name including multiple Louisiana Marathon top finishes.
St. Michael Cross Country coach, Neil Borel, mentions that Southeastern is lucky to sign a student athlete like Jeffery. “I never had to worry about him giving 100%,” he says, “Whether it was a good race or bad race for him personally, you always knew he was doing the best he could for his team. He is just an all-around great kid from academics, to behavior on and off the track.” Jeffery currently boasts a 3.9 GPA and is named an All-Academic Athlete by the LHSAA.
Jeffery explains he not only chose Southeastern for their top cross country and track teams but also to still remain close to family and friends. He plans to major in nursing and says he is most looking forward to meeting new people, becoming more independent, and competing as a Division I athlete.
