St. Michael Football Player Signs with Sterling College

C.J. Casma signed his college letter of intent to play defensive line and linebacker for Sterling College in Sterling, KS.

C. J., who has played football all four years at St. Michael High School, says that Sterling College felt like the right choice for him from the beginning. “After talking to my family and friends, I knew it was in my best interest to choose Sterling. They have a great religious background as well as a highly-developed football program. I am thankful for this opportunity and glad to be given this opportunity.”

C.J. credits his years at SMHS for his growth as a student and as an athlete. “I’ve learned from successes and mistakes in high school,” he comments, “I’ve become a self-starter thanks to the teachers at St. Michael.”

St. Michael head football coach, Joey Sanchez mentions that C.J. has grown from the time and effort that he put in since freshman year. “C.J. has brought so much to our team over the last four years and I know we all look forward to seeing him play at the next level. He is a hardworking young man and I think he will really excel at Sterling.”

As a football player, C.J. is a four time letterman and a member of the First Team All-District. He has also earned awards in track and field and powerlifting. C.J. plans to major in Kinesiology and looks forward to the challenge of playing college football.
