The St. Michael High School Dance Line received numerous honors at the UDA Panama City Resort dance camp last week. The team also placed third overall, earning themselves a bid to nationals.
Other results include: all Superior ribbons on dance evaluations , Top Coach award, Superior Team award, 5 Drill Down 24K Gold Ribbons, and the Leadership Award.
SMHS dance coach, Tiffany Mouton, says she is most excited that her team received the Leadership Award at camp. “This award is voted on by the entire camp and staff. It is given to the team that shows the best sportsmanship, willingness to help other teams, and the best attitude and work ethic. Our girls received this top honor and I could not be more proud of them.” Tiffany also said she’s most looking forward to watching the girls grow as a team this year. “My goal for each dancer is to become more confident and grow their own self-confidence which will grow beyond their years on dance line.”
Attending camp allowed the girls to build a solid foundation to start the year. Senior, Alexis Mouton, said her favorite part of camp is how everyone came together as a team. “Camp days are long, but we all encourage each other up. We all come together to help each other get the dances on late night practices so camp is definitely a great bonding experience.” Another senior, Megan Smith, said the best part of camp was getting to meet people from all over and making new friends. “I love the support each team had for each other,” she said, “and as a senior, I’m most looking forward to watching my team grow into a family.”
The team also had 4 All-Star Dancer selections: Bethany Flauss, Megan Smith, Alexis Mouton and Isabella Manzullo.
