Carley McCord Memorial Scholarship

St. Michael the Archangel High School has established a Memorial Scholarship for Alumna, Carley McCord ’07.

McCord, 30, died in a plane crash in Lafayette on December 28, 2019. The plane was headed to the LSU vs. Oklahoma game in Atlanta, Georgia.  While in high school, Carley was an active member of her school community and was a member of the powerlifting team, peer ministry, and in the school choir. In 2018, McCord was awarded St. Michael High School Alumni of the year. She remained active in her alma mater serving as emcee for the annual auction, mentoring students through her actions at career day, and helped launch the broadcasting program which is active and thriving thanks to her guidance and support.

St.Michael Principal Ellen Lee said, “We feel blessed to be able to honor Carley’s memory with a scholarship for students at St. Michael.  She gave so much of herself to her alma mater.  I think she would be pleased to have a scholarship in her memory, which helps to support the education of future Warriors.”

Our goal is to raise $40,000 so that this scholarship is fully endowed and managed through the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.  This will ensure the scholarship is fully funded for the lifetime of the school and for generations to come.
