St. Michael was formed in 1984 by the Diocese of Baton Rouge under the direction of Bishop Stanley Ott. The school was developed to offer young men and women the opportunity to attend a co-educational school in southeastern Baton Rouge. The school started as a one building school with a total enrollment of 130 students and has grown to now having an enrollment of over 700 students and is the only Diocesan Catholic high school in in Baton Rouge. Second generation warriors are now being educated on campus. Since 2008 there have been over 100 second generation warriors to adorn the black and red and walk the halls of St. Michael High School.
