Health/Physical Education I

Prerequisite: None.
Description:Team sports are taught on the freshman level. Units include physical fitness, flag football, weightlifting, basketball, soccer, volleyball, and softball, orientation of outdoor skills and one semester of health.

Physical Education II
Level: College Prep
Grade Level: 10
Prerequisite: None
Description: “Lifetime” sports are taught on the sophomore level. Units include golf, physical fitness, archery, badminton, dancing, and CPR

Physical Education III – Sports Medicine
Level: College Prep
Grade Level: 11 – 12
Prerequisite: Biology
Description: Sports Medicine I is a basic fundamental course with major emphasis on the care and prevention of athletic injuries. Specific symptomatic tests offer knowledge for preliminary evaluations of injuries. This course offers an educational background and training for an Athletic Trainer of Physical Therapist.

Physical Education III, IV
Level: College Prep
Grade Level: 11 – 12
Prerequisite: Health and Physical Education I and II.
Description: This course is designed to help students adopt and maintain an active lifestyle. Students will learn the facts about fitness and the importance of maintaining fitness. Students will participate in a variety of fitness activities including Pilates, step aerobics, cardio dance, and muscle toning exercises. This course will also include an introduction to current available nutritional information.

Physical Education III, IV – Athletics
Level: College Prep
Grade Level: 11 – 12
Prerequisite: Health and Physical Education I and II and athletic director’s recommendation are required.
Description: This course is designed for athletes and will include a combination of conditioning and weight training.
