St. Michael senior, Taylor Cuccia, officially signed with the LSU Tiger Girls dance team yesterday morning.

From her earliest memories of learning to walk, Taylor recalls being involved with dance. The soon-to-be Tiger Girl first recalls joining the Center Stage Performing Arts Academy at the age of two. From there, she never looked back. “I have always loved to dance. Whether it is as simple as dancing around the house or dancing with my friends and family, I have always enjoyed it,” explains Taylor. “Once I started to become more serious about it, I realized that dancing is something that I wanted to work hard at and something that I wanted to continue to do for a long time.” Taylor has spent 15 years in the sport, seven of which have been at the competitive level. “What I enjoy about the competition is seeing my hard work pay off. I can see the results of the amount of effort I put into it. Continuing to make progress is the best part.”

During her freshman year as a Warrior, Taylor was a member of the St. Michael Dance Line. Since then, she has conceded her dance line position for a spot on the track and field team while she continued to dance competitively for Center Stage outside of school. During her time in competitive dance, she has accumulated multiple Title-Winner awards at local and regional competitions around the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. She also claimed the Runner-up title in the 2021 Louisiana Dance Masters Pageant.

Along with her place on the track and field team, Taylor is a member of the spirit club, the ambassadors, the BETA club, and the National Honor Society. She has continued to dance competitively for Center Stage throughout her senior year, all while maintaining above a 4.0 GPA. Taylor says that she is excited about making the Tiger Girls team because they are an incredible group of girls who work hard to succeed. Just last year, the team captured a National Championship in the hip hop category. “I am most looking forward to continuing my hard work and seeing results with my new team. The LSU Tiger Girls are an amazing group of girls with awesome coaches, and I cannot wait to begin working with all of them,” she shares.

Taylor plans to major in Kinesiology and eventually wants to work in a pediatric setting with kids, helping them develop motor learning skills.
