Spiritual Life of the School
Whereas, St. Michael the Archangel High School provides a variety of activities such as retreats and days of recollection, liturgical celebrations, reconciliation services, and daily prayer to promote the spiritual aspect of a Catholic environment, it is our belief that Jesus is the foundation of our educational enterprise, and that we bring the faith of Jesus’ power and his revelation to life and to each student, idea, and experience. We bring Jesus to our students throughout their time at St. Michael’s.

* We shall teach them to wonder at the complexity and the simplicity of creation.
* We shall teach them to understand the order, structure and beauty of numbers as yet another side of God’s marvelous creation.
* We shall meet each one with reverence, patience and the desire to help.
* We shall invite them to explore God’s most precious creation with reverence for our common past and hope and excitement for our collective future.
* We shall set free their creativity and refine their natural talents.
* We shall encourage them to use both mental and physical abilities in sports and technology, recognizing these as means of making life more enjoyable and productive.
* We shall instill the skills and aesthetic sense they need to interpret ideas from literature and writings.
* We shall teach them to become examples of living the gift of faith.
* We shall provide the leadership necessary to enable teaching and learning to take place in our school.
Finally, St. Michael the Archangel High School strives to pray with and for one another as teachers, as students, and as families who need to community of prayer – to live out thoughtful and worthy convictions, for inspiration to spark inquiry, for courage to leave room for originality, and for growing faith in Jesus’ message and in our own calling to witness to that message.
Prayer to St. Michael
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
