St. Michael the Archangel High School’s Capital Campaign Nears Completion

The St. Michael High School Capital Campaign that began a little over two years ago is near completion.  With the help of over 500 donors, the school has successfully reached 88% of their goal for this important campaign which features a multipurpose building, covered walkways and additional parking on campus.

To help finish out the capital campaign and break ground on construction, St. Michael recently received a pledge of $500,000 from an anonymous donor as part of a matching gift challenge.  This gift will be used as a dollar to dollar matching gift of each donor’s contribution up to $500,000.  To make a gift to the SMHS Capital Campaign and double your donation through the matching gift challenge, visit www.smhsbr.org under Support SMHS.  “This matching gift is a game changer for St. Michael High School and the Capital Campaign.  This project benefits all areas of the school such as campus ministry, academics, fine arts, and athletics.  I encourage everyone to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to double their gift and support this worthy campaign,” said Building Committee member and alumnus Thad Rispone.

A building committee was recently put in place to serve in an advisory role for this project to St. Michael High School.  This committee will counsel the administration on the planning and development process, assist in the solicitation of contractors, and the execution of the construction and building plans.  Members include Kevin Andry, Bob Bernhard, Josh Galasso, Ronnie Hoffer, Ronnie Laborde, Jeff Larson, Ellen Lee, Seth Lemoine, Shane Mouton, Steve Nathanson, Eddie Rispone, Thad Rispone, Jerry Ruch, Rob Smith, and Jessie Zeringue.

The first step identified by the committee was the importance of gathering stakeholder input on the design and schematic plans for the new building.  The school held a community forum on April 12 for students, faculty, parents, alumni and friends of the school.  Here, attendees reviewed the layout and design, in addition to the functionality and purpose of assigned rooms and spaces in the new building.
